.: Thousands of Greens :. by turp .: Thousands of Greens :. by turp
"They'll sell you thousands of greens. Veronese green and emerald green and cadmium green and any sort of green you like; but that particular green, never."
Pablo Picasso-1966

I'm gonna be so disappointed with you people if this doesn't even get half as many favourites as that cat picture I posted recently that took me a hour to do.

First ot all, I'd like to thank ~norma-sCHARIOT for A LOT of help on this, along with ~cheeto, he helped me choose between various designs and colours and things really turned out well thanks to him.

Second of all, I'd like to thank the incredibly gorgeous *eldarwen for letting me use the picture of her :)

...okay, I love you even more. The quote really added to the piece, I think. And all of the different greens were beautiful to behold. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder (one of which you can see on my profile--not that I can see much without my glasses on u___u; damn short-sightedness).

This is by far my favorite. I love the color green, especially since my eyes are that color. I wish I could make artwork half as well as you can.

Well I dunno, for just the general outline I can't give you anything but tips. Try to keep the lines consistent and not too skinny and then too thick on other parts. Don't be afraid to put in wrinkles and stuff, it gives a face character. I'm not saying use huge thick lines and make them the centers of attention lol but a little accent line here and there is good. I use a thicker outline for the face and then for the nose and stuff thinner ones, it makes the facial features look less...clumsy, I dunno, more gentle? :b if you have any other questions or if I didn't manage to help at all feel free to keep asking questions.

okay..that really help...another question okay...how to determine the color for the face... i mean how to do the gradient and stuff...

:iconturp:
turp Featured By Owner Aug 28, 2006  Professional General Artist
well I didn't do any gradients for this one, but typically you just make a normal shape layer then right click and go to blending options then gradient something or other near the bottom of the list on the left side, and for picking colours I either just use eyedropper or most of my colours I just tend to guess and choose ones on the more pale side.

When I was making the design-ish version, I accidentally saved it as a flattened image on accident.

haha! we all have that sometime! ;) well - you have a Print of it so i expect you have a larger version ;) but don't you save in different files while working? i allways do! the new vector of my sis (yes turp my first human-vector and of course i got the idea from you ;) ) is saved in stages - over 4!

not very smart ;) you really should save in stages - like - 'wow this looks good' and then save before editing again... you'll allways be able to go back! :D

I can always just press undo or delete layers I don't like. I don't like the idea of having a whole seperate cavalry of files for only one picture really.

75% of the summer, i spent it with parties and beach...and the rest, i spent it on learning vectors :D...i've been experimenting on different opacities but using illustrator...when i saw your vector works they're done in photoshop...do you have any .psd file that you can share me?...i almost always have troubles with the features in the face...other than that, they're very much pretty easy :D
